One of the key efforts to strengthen student competence in the Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Djuanda University, is the implementation of the Field Work Program (KKL). This program is designed to enhance students’ theoretical and practical knowledge in a balanced way and to improve graduate competitiveness.
KKL is conducted over a period of 40 days at institutions selected by students based on their interests and with program guidance. To maintain the quality of the KKL activities and foster strong partnerships with the host institutions, the study program carries out monitoring visits, conducted by supervising lecturers. This serves as a strategic step in monitoring student competencies during their fieldwork.
On Saturday, August 24, 2024, a KKL visitation was carried out at Ilmi Fish Farm Rancamaya, located in Bogor City.
During their KKL, students actively engaged in all hatchery cycles of various ornamental fish species. Each student was assigned to specific fish commodities under the direction of the supervising lecturer and on-site field supervisor.
Dr. Eko Rini Farastuti, M.Si, Head of the Aquaculture Study Program, emphasized the importance of this visitation in identifying the active roles of students at each stage of the activity cycle. The visit also aimed to assess the readiness of students in their specific areas of expertise, especially in the hatchery and grow-out phases of freshwater ornamental fish.
During the same occasion, Mr. Muyke Febriana, the Head of Ilmi Fish Farm Rancamaya, stated that all participating students must carry out their tasks based on predefined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He added that students demonstrating strong field competencies will reinforce the theoretical knowledge they gain on campus and reflect the quality of the study program.
Bismillah, the Aquaculture Study Program is committed to continuously improving its quality by enhancing the competitiveness of its graduates, especially through mastery of practical skills in the field.
