Alhamdulillah, the Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Djuanda University, has once again achieved outstanding recognition at the Young National Scientists Festival (YNSF) and the Youth International Science Fair (YISF) 2025, held at AVA Lab, State University of Malang, East Java. The Aquaculture Program team (Prodi AKU) proudly won a Silver Medal in the competition. The event was part of a collaboration between the Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang, and the International Young Scientists Association (IYSA), running from February 21–25, 2025.
The team consisted of final-year students:
Rina Natasa (A.2110430), Maharani Khairunnisa (A.2110806), Gabriela Garaninda Heryana (A.2110581), and Husna Ilja Dianah (A.2110596), under the supervision of Dr. Eko Rini Farasuti, M.Si.
Together, they collaborated on a research theme titled:
"From Nature to Aquaculture: Use of Natural Materials in Fisheries' Reproduction, Growth, and Parasite Control Processes."
This broad theme aimed to promote sustainable aquaculture practices by utilizing natural resources to enhance fish farming. Their collective work was broken down into more focused sub-themes, including:
Reproduction of Crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus)
Growth Performance of Giant Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) using synbiotic wheat and sesame probiotics
Prevention of Ectoparasite Infections in Koi Fish (Cyprinus rubrofuscus) through immersion in betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.)
The competition attracted participants from both national and international institutions, making English communication a significant challenge. However, with strong preparation and full support from various parties, the team successfully presented their research to the judges and other participants. In addition to winning the Silver Medal, the Aquaculture team also received the Best Poster Award.
This achievement is a result of close collaboration between students and the study program, reflecting efforts to improve the program's quality by enhancing students’ competencies, ensuring they are competitive graduates. The team's dedication successfully translated the "Nature to Aquaculture" concept into integrated research beneficial for the aquaculture sector. Winning both the Silver Medal and Best Poster Award is a remarkable bonus for the team, the study program, the Faculty of Agriculture, and Djuanda University.
May this success be the beginning of even greater achievements and bring meaningful contributions to the development of the aquaculture industry.
