On Monday, June 23, 2025, the Agribusiness Study Program held a Guest Practitioner Lecture featuring one of its accomplished alumni, Iqbal Habibi, S.P., an Agribusiness alumnus of the 2015 cohort. He has earned numerous prestigious titles and achievements, including:
Millennial Farmer Ambassador of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture,
Young Ambassador of the YESS Program 2022,
Outstanding Farmer of West Java Province 2022,
Sukabumi Farmer Champion,
Chairperson of Tani Mandiri Sejahtera (Tamara) Sukabumi,
Head of the Tamara Agro Farm P4S Training Center Sukabumi, and
West Java Youth Pioneer 2024.
The event carried the theme: “Negotiation Strategies for Securing Business Contracts in Agricultural Enterprises”. It aimed to bridge the gap between higher education and the professional world, enhancing the relevance of graduates’ competencies to industry needs. This program encourages collaboration between universities and industry practitioners to provide students with more practical and applicable learning experiences.
The session was attended by 42 students from the Agribusiness and Agrotechnology study programs, as well as several faculty members from the Faculty of Agriculture.
In his presentation, Kang Iqbal shared key strategies for securing business cooperation contracts in agriculture, emphasizing the importance of:
Effective communication skills,
Understanding potential partner companies,
Setting clear objectives,
Patience and flexibility.
Through his company, CV Tamara Agro, he cultivates 12 types of commodities on his farm and has partnered with 22 business partners, successfully securing contracts with Lotte Mart, Segari (online grocery), and HORECA clients like Pizza Hut, each requiring different collaboration models.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Himmatul Miftah, M.Si, delivered an opening remark, expressing that such activities are highly beneficial to the learning process—not only by providing practical skills and knowledge but also by building valuable agribusiness networks with alumni.
The Head of the Agribusiness Study Program, who is also the lecturer for the Agricultural Communication and Business Negotiation course, Siti Masithoh, S.Pt., M.Si., shared her hopes that this session would increase students’ motivation to learn and pursue their professions, ultimately supporting the learning objectives of the course.
