The Community Service Program (KKN) is an educational initiative that reflects the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. At the Faculty of Agriculture, Djuanda University (FAPERTA UNIDA), KKN is part of the academic curriculum in the form of community service in rural areas. It also supports the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. KKN is a comprehensive effort by the Faculty to develop high-quality human resources, aligned with its mission. Furthermore, it contributes to the application of the 21 Tauhid Character Values, including local, national, global, and spiritual wisdom.
The KKN program is a collaborative educational effort involving the transfer of knowledge, character, and values between students and the rural community. It is also supported by partnerships with local governments, agricultural extension workers, SMEs, and private sector stakeholders. The 2024 KKN carries the theme:
“Implementation of Appropriate Agricultural Technology Based on Local Village Resource Development”,
which is expected to support the acceleration of sustainable rural development (SDGs) based on the unique potential of each village. This year, KKN will be conducted from August to September 2024, involving 56 students divided into 8 groups. The activity locations span Bogor Regency, covering four districts:
Caringin District (Pancawati and Tangkil Villages),
Cigombong District (Cigombong, Cisalada, and Watesjaya Villages),
Cijeruk District (Tajurhalang Village),
Cisarua District (Citeko and Tugu Selatan Villages).
During the KKN briefing held on July 23, 2024, the KKN Coordinator, Ms. Nani Yulianti, M.Si, explained that students will be mentored by Field Supervising Lecturers (DPL) who will assist in aligning student work programs with the potential and development plans of each village. The briefing aimed to strengthen students’ readiness and confidence before deployment. The briefing program included sessions to enhance students’ preparedness in solving real-world problems in the field. These sessions, conducted by FAPERTA lecturers, included:
"Create the Great Teamwork" – Ir. Mulyana, M.Si
"Utilization of Raw Materials and Local Wisdom as Appropriate Agricultural Technology" – Dr. Arifah Rahayu, M.Si
"Mapping Village Potential and Designing SDGs-Oriented Work Programs" – Prof. Dr. Ir. Dede Kardaya, M.Si
"Communication and Community Engagement Strategies" – Dr. Ir. Apendi Arsyad, M.Si
Thanks to good coordination, the briefing session was well-received, and students responded positively, indicating their active participation and readiness. One of the participants, Bagas from the Agribusiness program, said that the session was effective in preparing students to engage with local communities. The Dean of FAPERTA, Dr. Setyono, M.Si, expressed his hope that the briefing would help students better formulate and implement their work programs. With full support from the FAPERTA academic community, it is hoped that this year’s KKN will run smoothly and achieve its intended outcomes. Aamiin.
