The Aquaculture Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Djuanda University, strengthens student competency by facilitating self-initiated internships. This program is conducted during the 2025/2026 even semester break, aiming to enhance practical skills through direct experience at selected institutions. The program ensures students are better prepared for the workforce with a balanced mastery of theory and practice, ultimately increasing the competitiveness of graduates.
On Monday, February 2, 2026, a formal handover ceremony took place for the internship participants at the Research Center for Ornamental Fish Breeding (BRBIH) in Depok, under the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). The Djuanda University students were received alongside interns from two other institutions: Teuku Umar University (Aceh) and the Sibolga Fisheries College. The group was officially welcomed by the Head of General Sub-affairs, Mr. Gleni Hasan Huwoyon, S.Pi, and the field supervisory team.
The participating students from the Aquaculture Study Program, Mutiarani Sukmawan (A.2510613) and Sherli Juniarti (A.2510678), will engage in the full cycle of activities at the center. Mutiarani explained that her motivation for this self-initiated internship was to utilize her break productively, noting that the hands-on experience at the center provides vast, practical knowledge that complements her campus studies. She hopes to gain beneficial insights and expand her professional network.
Similarly, Sherli Juniarti stated that she chose this path to familiarize herself with the daily operations of the aquaculture industry, gaining a clearer vision of the field to aid her future career planning. Beyond student development, this initiative also serves as an opportunity to build and strengthen the partnership between Djuanda University and BRBIH.
May this self-initiated internship for the Aquaculture students proceed smoothly and bring blessings to all. Wallahu a'lam bishawab.
