FAPERTA UNIDA Expands Global Collaboration, Highlights ASEAN Academic Issues at UiTM Melaka, Malaysia

Last Updated: 5 months ago

Continuing the series of activities under the Tridharma International Visit & Academic (Batch 6) program, the delegation of the Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA), Universitas Djuanda (UNIDA), conducted a courtesy visit and strategic academic activities at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Melaka Branch. The second day of the program, held on Wednesday (January 28–29, 2026), featured a comprehensive agenda including a Courtesy Visit, an academic seminar entitled ASEAN Issues, and an Academic Workshop.

The activities at UiTM Melaka marked an important milestone in the implementation of international cooperation under the theme Strengthening International Academic Networks in Malaysia.” The program facilitated a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) addressing academic issues at the ASEAN level, with discussions centered on curriculum development and collaborative research methods among international higher education institutions.

The collaboration with UiTM Melaka is strategically designed to significantly support the achievement of Higher Education Key Performance Indicators (IKU). The ASEAN Issues Seminar and Academic Workshop directly contribute to IKU 6 (study program collaboration with world-class partners) and IKU 5 (lecturers’ works recognized by society or receiving international recognition).

Furthermore, the exchange of ideas during the forum reflects the implementation of the Impactful Campus Program, in which higher education institutions actively formulate academic-based solutions to regional ASEAN challenges through cross-national perspectives.

Dean of FAPERTA UNIDA, Dr. Abdullah Baharun, S.Pt., M.Si., emphasized the importance of the second-day activities for institutional development.

“The visit to UiTM Melaka and the implementation of the ASEAN Issues Seminar provide highly strategic benefits. We are expanding our academic networks and aligning perspectives on global challenges faced by both countries. This opens opportunities for our lecturers and students to engage in more substantive academic forums at the international level,” stated Dr. Abdullah Baharun.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Agrotechnology Study Program at FAPERTA UNIDA and delegation member, Dr. Muhammad Zainal Fanani, S.P., assessed the activity as highly significant for study program development.

The next agenda in Melaka includes a Visiting Lecture and preparation for the main event, namely the 6th International Conference on Sustainability in Technological, Environmental, Law, Management, Social and Economic Matters (6th ICOSTELM 2026).

“The collaboration established through the Tridharma International Visit does not end with ceremonial activities alone, but is expected to continue through collaborative research, lecturer and student exchanges, and curriculum development based on global issues and industry needs,” he explained.

He further emphasized that synergy among higher education institutions in the ASEAN region is expected to generate applicable innovations, strengthen graduate competitiveness, and provide tangible contributions to sustainable agricultural development at both regional and global levels.
